City Of New York
by Dow Kim on Dec.03, 2012, under City of New York
The Museum of the City of New York is a very interesting one. As the name suggests, it displays many exhibitions of the history and art of New York City. This relates to my theme, showing the past of NYC and its rich culture. As you walk around, the plethora of pictures gives you a sense of timelessness in such a busy city.
Here is a link to a quick slide show of the Museum of the City of New York. It had a nice display of events throughout history with in New York City. It was very interesting to find out information about the city in which I live and go to school in.
American Folk Art Museum
by Dow Kim on Dec.03, 2012, under American Folk Art
This museum is devoted to American Folk Art. Folk art a genre of art of unknown origin that reflects traditional values of a society. Since New York City is like a melting pot of culture, the unknown traditional values of a society are important because it reflects NYC’s many values and beliefs.
This is a collage that I put together of pictures from my visit to the American Folk Art Museum. There were very interesting pieces that were abstract and creative. It was quite small, but that had a great effect on me because I was not overwhelmed by a massive building.
Guggenheim Museum

Here is a poem about the Guggenheim. Included are facts about the museum itself, the art inside, and Guggenheim himself.
One of many around the world, residing in the NYC
Over fifty years since it came to be
From a mix of sand and cement called gunite
The building is one of interesting and unforgettable sight
Curved walls in place around a circle core
Not the first architectural sketch seven hundred more
Modern art is a big inspiration to Guggenheim
But he perished before grand opening time
Walk up the spiral ramp all the way to the end
Seeing more and more artworks as you ascend, or descend
One of the exhibits is Picasso Black and White
Famous paintings like The Milliner’s Workshop, left and right
A very contemporary styled structure with unique pieces of art
Take a gander at it, it will intrigue your heart
