Grand Street in Chinatown
Grand Street lies in the heart of Chinatown, a bustling ethnic enclave on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The community is filled with vibrant signs and overcrowding street life, and particularly famous for its delicious Chinese cuisine and dim sum restaurants. Tourists from around the world and even long time Manhattan residents make trips to Chinatown to experience authentic Chinese culture. However, as a landscape vulnerable to transition, the community is in danger of rapid outmigration and gentrification. This is our study of the community: how Chinatown came to be, and what will become of it in the future.
