Blurb 4

The sound of Coldplay’s song “Speed of Sound” echoed through Vanderbilt Hall on 42nd Street. Upon hearing the unique sound produced by Erik Heger’s harp and coming to the realization that he was playing one of my favorite songs, I was amazed and decided to stop for a listen. After enjoying a few of Heger’s songs, I was amazed by his talent and the unique approach he took when playing rather mainstream music.  Although listeners could definitely recognize what song Heger was playing, he seemed to add a unique element to each song, making it his own. This led me to pick up one of Heger’s  business cards and do further research. Upon viewing Heger’s twitter account, I was excited to learn that he makes frequent visits to various subway stops, including that at Columbus Circle as well as Union Square. For those of you who would like to hear beautiful harp music in a very convenient manner, I highly advise you check out Erik Heger’s music.

Blurb: Cloisters Museum

The Cloisters Museum branch of the Metropolitan Museum is sure to give you a taste of life in Medieval Europe.  The moment visitors step foot on the grounds of the Cloister Museum, they will feel as though they have arrived in another country. Located at 190th street in Manhattan, the Cloisters Museum displays genuine medieval European art, enclosed by authentic medieval architecture. Parts of the museum building have been transported from various places throughout Europe, incorporating a plethora of architectural styles and coming together to form a truly unique building. One aspect of the Cloisters Museum that is a “must-see” is the unicorn exhibit. Floor to ceiling tapestries cover the walls, telling the story of a unicorn. Although the tapestries might appear to simply be paintings of a unicorn in various settings, they come together tell an unexpectedly complex and detailed story of the journey and life of a unicorn.  The museum is embellished with traditional medieval fountains along with plant-filled gardens, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere.  Water falls from the fountain, contributing a relaxed sound, further enhancing the mood of the museum.  Not only is the Cloisters Museum very informative and engaging, but it is the ideal place to go to relax in one of the serene gardens.

A grey heron feasts on a wild frog. Animals leave their mark in the deep white fluffy blanket of snow. Clearly defined water droplets captured in mid air. The moon’s incredible shine can be seen amidst the darkness of a clear night. Soothing, nature inspired music playing in the background, evoking a sense of curiosity in passer-byers. Not your typical display of photography, and certainly not in your typical location either.
