The Year of the Flood A companion to Margaret Atwood's novel

The Year of the Flood
Sophia Curran

Hi all, my name is Sophia. I am in my second year at Hunter, and “Imagining Gender: Exploring Narratives of Technology” is the second course I have taken through the Macaulay Honors College. “Sexuality and American Culture” with Professor Lee Quinby was the first. I am an English and Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies double-major.

For this project in particular, I concentrated my textual analysis on the customs of The God’s Gardeners in Margaret Atwood’s Year of the Flood. Specifically, I looked at their hymns to better understand their systems of assigning value. I even composed some original melodies for three of the hymns as I imagined they might have been sung: My Body Is My Earthly Ark, God Gave Unto The Animals, and When Adam First. My subsequent contributions have been to building this website, with a focus on the aesthetic design portion. I hope you enjoy!
