On 135th Street and Broadway The one train bisects the east and west of broadway. Here it rises out of the ground from the 137th street station, climbing its way the suspended bus stop on 125th street. Staring up at the northwest corner, this crossroad resembles many other blocks in Harlem. There is the Bus Stop Diner, Laith Deli, and Quality Cleaners. Opposite, the southwest corner is occupied by a playground in front of an imposingly tall apartment complex. The complex is from 1976 and was initially part of the Mitchell-lama affordable housing plan, but left the plan in 2005.
The northeast corner holds two empty storefronts open for rent. One was formerly a pharmacy and the other a cardiology and diabetes center.
The recently opened Martinez Gallery, which costed 2.5 million dollars, dominates the southeast corner with a striking indoor display on graffiti. The gallery opened in 2018 after many years of planning and an investment of 2.5 million dollars.
