The western corners of the intersection of Fifth Ave. & 59th St. are marked by the General William Tecumseh Sherman Monument and the Pulitzer Fountain, while the northeastern corner houses a Harry Cipriani (in The Sherry-Netherland) and Prive Salon; the southeastern corner was under construction when we went. This intersection marks the southeastern corner of Central Park. Although the roads in this area were relatively not busy for its location in midtown Manhattan, a number of tourists were seen due to the presence of Central Park and the famous Fifth Avenue shops.
