Rain: A Beatles Experience

Rain

Let me take you down, ‘cause I’m going to… RAIN!  Rain is a Beatles tribute that has been performing all over the world and the country for decades.  Their goal is to entertain the audience and take them back to the time of the ‘60s.

The show does this in multiple ways.  The first, and obvious, way is through the fantastic music of the Beatles.  The band went through all the different stages: the early ‘60s “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” stage, the “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band” stage, the Rubber Soul stage, the Indian Influence stage, and so on.  Through the music and through the costumes the audience felt like they were there.

During the intermission and before the show started, TV screens had trivia about the Beatles and their contemporaries.  On those screens later on, the production showed old commercials from back in the ‘60s including a Flintstones cigarette commercial.  During the early period songs, the audience was featured on the ‘big screen’ along with genuine fan girls from back in the day.  This was my favorite section of the performance because it was filled with the most fun and energy, not to mention some of the happier music.

The cast played a huge variety of music, some songs that even I wasn’t able to sing along to.  They of course played some of the well-known songs as well, though songs like “Penny Lane”, and “Oh Darling” were left out.  If I would ask for anything more, I would ask to have a longer performance in order to include as many hit songs as possible.

The encore was “Hey Jude”, one of my favorite songs of all time.  The audience got up on their feet and sang along and hands were waving for the end’s “Naaa, Na, Na, NaNaNaNaaa.”  The audience was filled with people of all ages and the theatre was packed.  It was a great outing.
