The Blowing Bowler animation picture by Red Nose Studios is one that I see displayed often when I ride the MTA subways. It depicts a man chasing after his hat which is being carried away from his direction by the wind. The characters are made out of the clay and the bumpy features can be seen on the faces of the figures. The picture is dynamic and uses the entire portrait with varying levels and design patterns. The portrait picture is snapshot of the short film “The Blowing Bowler” by Chris Sickels and was displayed in Fulton Street in LED display until it was taken down this past Summer. The piece is very colorful and appealing to the eye. My wandering eyes always trace back to the picture as I examine every section of the picture. The background of the picture is a white wall and creates a stark contrast in colors. The artist seems to portray the bust hustle and bustle of the NYC MTA transit system during the day. Viewing the artwork during the day would animate the piece because most passenger commute throughout the day. The MTA Arts & Design commissioned the piece of art and has dispersed the image to many subway carts, meaning that the image is meant to last. The artwork was released in 2015.
