Introduction to Bay Parkway
The Bay Parkway stop along the D Train is a main hub of activity in the middle of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. As one of the largest and most immigrant populated neighborhoods in Brooklyn, it truly encompasses the new culture of Brooklyn. Its unique identity as an ethnically diverse immigrant community is unseen in any other area of New York. Unlike places like Little Italy, Chinatown, or Sunset Park, Bay Parkway is home to a wide variety of immigrants and yet remains a homogenous community. On the same block, one can buy groceries from an Arab vegetable vendor, buy sushi, Turkish, or Italian food. The area also prides itself on its diversity and its reputation as a safe, family-oriented community. Bay Parkway is a unique area that was incredibly interesting to study and further understand.
