The focus of my collage project is on the things that people in New York City like to do. To weave in a particular theme, I decided on people taking photos because that’s something you always see in New York City. The idea came to me when one of my friends started taking pictures of another friend taking a picture of her drink. To give the collage a little more variety, I decided to choose smaller themes within the larger theme and so, I captured some and found some photos that fall into these categories.
The first subtheme I chose was using iPads. I have always found it amusing when people take photos with their iPads because of the size of the gadget. The second theme I had included people taking pictures of people taking pictures and so on. I called this theme inception because the final photos shows the story behind the original photographer. In the first photo of this category, one simple photo led to a total of five photos. In the second one, the photo led to three photos altogether. The next idea came to me when Max Flatow delivered his presentation to our class. He mentioned that in the beginning of his career, he often took photos of the food at a local restaurant. This isn’t something you see too often because with technology these days, many people simply take photos of their food with their phone cameras just because of conveniency. Sometimes people take pictures of the simplest things that it comes off a little silly. Or sometimes, the measures they go to just to take a photo of their food, are also quite amusing. And last but not least, something people should understand is that taking pictures of food is not uncommon and is something a lot of people do these days, especially with Instagram being such a popularly used application.
This is something that you see everyday in New York. If you look up any hashtags related to food, you’ll see that this something you just see in New York, but something that occurs all over the place.
