The Tourists

At many neighborhoods along the D-train, such as Norwood and Hamilton Heights, the neighborhood’s story is primarily determined by the residents of the area. The 59th street D-stop though, is heavily influenced by a conglomerate of outside groups. Among the largest of these nonresident groups are the students, tourists, and low wage workers. One of these groups, the tourists, have an entire industry built around them near Columbus Circle. Everything from a place to stay in the Trump International Tower, and Mandarin Oriental, to entertainment at Lincoln Center and the Time Warner Cable Mall, to shopping at the Time Warner Cable Mall are all just a short walk away. This tourist industry, naturally attracts people from a diverse array of cultures, religions, and nationalities. However, due to the price of these hotels and attractions the tourists are all form the top income of the income ladder.
