When I looked at the Hamilton Grange from afar, I was startled by its dainty structure sitting securely on a little hill. Despite being from a different time period, the Grange remained sturdy with the help of some renovation. As I approached it, I began to get absorbed into the peaceful, tranquil environment. The open-spaced greenery made me feel comfortable and relaxed. The inside was actually bigger than what I had expected judging from the outside. Seeing the house as how Hamilton, himself, saw it, transported me back to time. It was unbelievable how the whole house was moved from one location to another but after watching the video of the process, I accepted it.
While exploring the Grange, I got interested in what kind of person Alexander Hamilton was- his background, his influence, and his accomplishments. Unlike the other founding fathers, Hamilton was not born into a wealthy family and thus had no honorable background. Even so, he was able to become a prominent and influential figure, who shaped America the way it is now.
Having the opportunity to step foot into one of the founding father’s house was a wonderful experience. I enjoyed learning about the history of Alexander Hamilton and the restoration of the rooms.
