Alexis Carrozza completed doctoral coursework in Art History at The Graduate Center, CUNY where she studied modern and contemporary art. Her research addresses intersections between art, media, and technology with a focus on accelerating speeds of image and information sharing since the sixties. Her work as an ITF is informed by her research interests and teaching experiences; inspired by the Macaulay students, faculty, and fellow ITFs; and sustained by a love for gifs and cute animal videos on YouTube. She has taught art history courses as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at Baruch College in addition to art history courses at John Jay College, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. She contributes to the peer-populated website for art history educators arthistoryteachingresources.org. Click here to make an appointment with Alexis.

Kelly Eckenrode is a PhD candidate in Molecular Biology at CUNY Brooklyn College. She studies the role of mechanical forces on metabolic states in the human pathogen Neisseria gonorrhoeae. She did her undergraduate work at UMass Boston in Biology. After graduation, she worked with the Department of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School as a research technician. There she studied how genetic regulatory elements in several Drosophila species (fruit flies) shape their evolution. Outside of research and running amok, Kelly loves to read and illustrate comics. Frieda Benun is a Ph.D. candidate in the Biology program at Brooklyn College. Her research focuses on the evolution of reproductive complexity in fishes. She uses both a macro- and micro-evolutionary lens, studying the large-scale evolutionary patterns of parental investment across all fishes with a concentration in male pregnancy (!) in the local pipefish, Syngnathus fuscus (a relative of the seahorse). Frieda is an alumna of Macaulay Honors College and earned her B.S. in Biology in 2013. Prior to joining the ITF team, she worked as a tour guide and taught classes at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC.
