I am a member of the Baruch College History Department faculty and have taught the Macaulay Honors College “Peopling of New York” seminar since 2010. In previous years, I asked my “Peopling” students to make a particular neighborhood the focus of the course website. However, in many of my classes at Baruch, I noticed a growing (and understandable) student interest in the Great Depression and what it might be able to teach us about the current Great Recession. For this reason, I decided to make the Great Depression-Great Recession comparison the central focus of this year’s website. I hope the students found it as interesting a project as I did!
