Mary Poppins

On October 1st I visited the New Amsterdam Theatre to see the hit Broadway musical, “Mary Poppins”. This musical was a stunning performance and the actors knew how to keep the magic alive with their incredible voices and brilliant acting skills.

Not only did their singing, acting and magic tricks leave the audience in awe but the actors also embraced how people can change for the better. In the beginning Jane and Michael’s aloof, strict father showed no sign of emotions or love for his children. However, overtime, as he sees the positive impact the new nanny, Mary Poppins, has on his children, George Banks begins to view his life and family in a different light. In the end, with the help of Mary Poppins, George understands the meaning of family and learns how to prioritize his family over his job.

From the animated characters, to Mary’s original “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” song, to the importance of family, Mary Poppins delivers a delightful and moving performance. Both the young and the old will fall in love with such a timeless tale.
