a macaulay honors seminar taught by prof. daniel campos at brooklyn college

José Martí’s Trans-American Cultural Criticism

Tomorrow in class we will continue our discussion of José Saldívar’s Trans-Americanity. Specifically, we will discuss chapter 2, “Migratory Locations,” in conjunction with Jose Martí’s 1891 essay “Our America.”

As you know, Professor Saldívar will visit our seminar on March 18 and you will have the chance to converse with him. So in preparation for tomorrow’s discussion, please bring the most important question you would ask him to understand his text.

Bren, for example, already asked this question: “Is Trans-Americanity a specific form of transnationalism?”

What else would each of you ask? Write up a question and come ready to ask it.
