“Acting is the life of the human soul receiving its birth through art.”
-Richard Boleslavsky, “Acting: The First Six Lessons”
Being an actor myself, this is the section I may be most attentive to. Ever since I can remember, I have been an active theatre goer as well as performer, and it is truly my life passion. The theatre is something magical that transforms and transcends the very definition of art. It plays with all of the senses and, through the willing suspension of disbelief, catapults you into a world that you have never known before. Many may think this just happens for the audience but this happens for the actors as well. It is the craft of fully believing that you are someone else in another time, and depicting a story so vividly and realistically that it seems true. Whether it be a musical or straight play, acting (when done correctly) can affect a person for many years to come. This section will feature comments on theatre, possibly things I post from my “Intro to Acting” class, and reviews of Broadway, community, and CUNY theatrical productions.
Sound fancy? Well Thespus would want you to join the other thespians by clicking the category link on the left hand side appropriately named “theatrical reviews”!
