Fort Greene

Short Anecdote: In my freshman year of high school at Brooklyn Tech, the store seen at the front was a Five Guys. However, by my second or third year, Five Guys had been closed down and the space was for rent. In the years following that, this store was a locally-owned shoe store. By the time I was graduating, the store had closed down and this space was for rent once again. This photograph is my favorite because it symbolizes the ongoing gentrification in Fort Greene. You have a space for rent that once was a locally-owned business. Presumably due to the skyrocketing rent in the area, the store went out of business. In the distance, you see one of the luxurious high-rise condos that may dominate the neighborhood one day.
