In this interdisciplinary seminar, students will examine in depth the history, trends, issues, and debates that shape the physical form and social dynamics of New York City through extensive fieldwork, research, and interviews, ultimately making recommendations with a view toward the future of New York.

Andrea Marpillero-Colomina is Isador Lubin Fellow in the PhD Program at the Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy at The New School. She holds an MS in Urban Planning from Columbia University and a BA from Sarah Lawrence College. Her research examines the intersection between urban politics and infrastructure. She has worked on projects in the US, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Italy, and Jordan. She is faculty at The New School (Parsons School of Design, Eugene Lang College) and CUNY (City College, Queens College). She is a proud native New Yorker and mildly patriotic first-generation American.

Andres Orejuela is Instructional Technology Fellow at Macaulay Honors College.
