I hope the concept of genealogy is one that all of you in the class will think more about. And here is a quote I just came across that I wish I had yesterday when talking about the Proustian allusions in “The Albertine Notes:”

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in
having new eyes.” – Marcel Proust

May you all have new eyes!

It’s a highly entertaining show that isn’t afraid to be intelligent – definitely recommend checking it out as well.

It would be awesome to print out full scale versions, I’ll definitely make sure the raw files are high-res and big. I’d really like to use Photoshop or InDesign, and I’m familiar with Quark. Any chance any of the computers at Macaulay are outfitted for graphic design work?

I’ll be sure to check out the book as well, sounds very pertinent. Again, your help is much appreciated.

He becomes an important witness because he is a journalist, a writer, and he can keep a record of history. After becoming an addict, he can no longer be that witness. The written history becomes the only thing that the people can grasp onto because they can’t go on relying on their own memories and their perception of the present because it is constantly changing. The written word becomes the only tangible thought that can be trusted.
