Response posts / Tags

When making your response posts to the different material we interact with in this course (novels, poems, performances, films etc), you will want to follow the category instructions listed previously.

In short, if you are writing a response about poetry, be sure to check the poetry category before you publish. If it’s about Let the Great World Spin, then please check that category. As an important side note, please use the week categories as well.  So, if you’re writing about a poem during week 2 of the class, please check the poetry category AND the week 2 category.

If you’re chatting in the Chat Forum, likewise.

Remember, again, that if the category field does not appear in the right sidebar, screen options will allow you to make it appear.

Adding Tags

In addition to using categories to put your posts in the right place, it is important that we do the work of cross-referencing. This organizational work can be done painlessly using tags.  Below the category menu on the right sidebar of the posting page you will find a box for adding tags. Beneath that, you will find a section where you can use already created tags. Make use of both of these things. Look at what people have already used and select ones that fit your post. Add new tags if you need something that doesn’t already exist. Be sure to take a look at the existing tags first so that we do not get repeated creations.
