NYC Tenement Museum

*Our Research Plan:

*Focus/Theme: Then Versus Now:
 –  Compare relevance of museum then – as a tenement and actual home – to relevance of it now as a museum:

  • Connect to changes in the neighborhood (Lower East Side) and to changes in the time period.
  • Possibly connect to a modern translation of tenement life.
  • Create video documentary.  [will be compiled by Naomi and Victoria]

*Objective: Describe characteristics of the museum and provide context of its cultural significance:

  • Describe characteristics through data gathered from museum visits.
  • Conduct additional research on museum via visits to libraries, online databases (looking for academic journals, old newspapers) etc…
  • Conduct interviews with museum personnel to find out more about museum’s history and what role the museum plays for its community then and now.
