I find it interesting how older artists in the time period could not adapt to the new form of art so they just quietly faded away from the new mainstream. I guess some artists come to realize their work can sometimes only be relegated to a certain time period based off current events in the world.

“The post-war years saw the realization of urbanistic ideals that seemed fantastic or Utopian when first proposed fifty years ago,” “a parlor for the metropolis,” architecture as romantic for its “realization of a dream or an ideal,” “startlingly modern” and other phrases of the sort are mentioned throughout this entire reading. It was almost just as shocking for people of that era to see these structures everywhere as it was for me to read this type of fantastic language being used to describe the transformation of New York City into the center of arts. We truly do take it for granted that our city has such incredible history behind its most recognizable cultural institutions. I never realized how much of an impact this change had and how these changes came about. As I mentioned in another post, people speak of everything so casually nowadays that the places where these works of art are housed do not seem to be as special as they are. These institutions, which make New York City iconic and almost entirely contribute to the reason as to why the city is considered by many to be the one of the most amazing, have been here for so long that these facts never occurred to me. The more I continued to read the clearer this and the message became to me.
