Doctor Who 7.05 “The Angels Take Manhattan”
I can’t. I just can’t. That’s it. I just saw the episode, and I spent most of it crying.
Note, I haven’t even seen the other episodes for this series. Except for “Asylum of the Daleks.”
The ’30s noir opening was fantastic. It was suspenseful, as it should be, and was so scared the whole time. It had a great feel to it. The Melody Malone book was adorable and made me cry. And those rocks are my favorite place in all of Central Park. Not anymore. I’ll cry next time I go there and see all those buildings and all those statues. Why did you have to set such a heart-breaking episode here in New York?
And that antiquities collector. I hate him.
The rest of the episode is best summed up by senseless all-caps keyboard smashing. (Which I’ve done enough of on Tumblr, so I won’t do here.)
Weeping Angels scare me. They really do. If you aren’t familiar with them, this quote from “Blink”, their first appearance sums it up: “Don’t blink. Blink and you’re dead. They’re fast. Faster than you can believe. Don’t turn your back. Don’t look away. AND DON’T. BLINK. Good luck.” Basically, they move when you aren’t looking and stop when you do. They’re “quantum-locked”, also known as the Quantum Zeno effect.
Anways, when they said this episode was going to be like “The Reichenbach Fall” in Sherlock, I didn’t think I meant like this. Moffat! I’m done. Between Moffat and Fellowes, I don’t have feelings anymore. You both destroyed them.
All that false hope twenty minutes before the end. Gah!
Watch Doctor Who, they said. It’s a fun, light-hearted British family show, they said.
Well, I gotta go wipe all my tears off my laptop.
