The taste of Coney Island has long been experienced through many American classics. The conception of frozen custard, revived by Rita’s Italian Ice, came about in 1919 on a hot summer day at the boardwalk in the hopes to keep ice cream fyrom melting by adding an egg. When one hears of Nathan’s hotdogs thoughts immediately lead to Coney Island where the five cent frank began. Although Mama Burger lost her burger in Sandy, Paul’s Daughter still offers a variety of foods from burgers and clams to ice cream and cotton candy. And let’s not forget the several bars in the area including Place to Beach that starts playing tunes at 11:00 am.
