For my virtual art museum tour, I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I chose this museum because of the vast variety of art that the MET has. At first, I went to their website to take part in the 360 Degree Project tour, where it seems like you’re actually there. The museum has videos that you can watch and have the option of looking further up, down, right, or left. I wound up not enjoying that experience because the videos did not allow me to observe details in the art. Additionally, there were only a few videos available. Since I didn’t enjoy the 360 Degree Project, I used the Google Arts and Culture website to have my virtual tour of the MET there. That website featured so much art. From marble sculptures to medieval iron armor, there were so many options to view. Everything was easy to access, and if you were looking for a specific medium, the art was categorized according to that. I was able to view so many different works of art, and I didn’t have to lift a foot in order to do so.
In the end, I did find the virtual tour enjoyable. I liked not having to leave my house to see what the museum offered. This is because I tend to find art museums boring. I usually wind up spending an hour or two at art museums because a lot of the art does not appeal to me. I usually just breeze past a lot of the works and only focus on a dozen. I was glad that I did not have to waste time on getting dressed and commuting, since the tours were at the comfort of my own home.
