The Church with a Statue of St. Mary
This piece of artwork is one of the places that I like to visit to ‘calm my eyes’. After a long day of staring at the computer, I take a stroll around my neighborhood and always stop by to admire the Church. During sunset, the beautiful stained glass windows come to life, the statue of St. Mary surrounded by flowers gets dimly lit, and the 6ft tall lanterns poking out of the grounds glow, giving an 18th century London streetlight feeling. The Church perfectly represents my neighborhood: quiet, relatively clean, and with average American citizens. I think that the community settled in this area decided to have an accessible Church where you can hear it’s bell toil. This piece of architecture speaks to me because it reminds me of my own hometown and the Church that we used to visit. I have personal memories that associate seeing a Church with family time and safety.
Very lovely and serene.
