Chris LoPorto Blog

This week we met a talented musician and singer of the band “Can’t Swim”, Chris LoPorto. It was interesting to see the contrast between him and all of the other artists that we have me thus far. Although all of the speakers are artists, this was the first musician we met. First of all, I wanted to say that I liked the music that he puts out. I’m not usually a fan of Rock music and that genre, but I enjoyed listening to the lyrics of his songs. I think that my favorite song out of the ones that I listened to by “Can’t Swim” is “Your Clothes.” Furthermore, I find it particularly interesting that we were able to speak with him at this time. I can only imagine how different it must be for artists now that we have been in quarantine for the past few months. He said that this is a major change for him since he is used to constantly touring with his band. I’m glad to hear that he can catch a break and focus on other things now that he cannot go on tour. I understand that touring can be demanding, so now he can focus on maybe writing music or focusing more on the things that he likes to do. I also like that he said that art is anything that the artist wants it to be. If the artist wants it to appeal to a certain group of people, then this is considered art. I completely agree with his viewpoint on this. Thus, meeting the lead singer of “Can’t Swim” was a valuable experience.
