I have to say that Rich’s visit was my favorite guest speaker thus far. Learning about his experience in street art and music was so fascinating. Since there is so much street art and graffiti around New York, it was not only interesting but also informative. In a short period of time, I learned a lot about the values and ways of street art. I appreciate that I now have a greater knowledge of the art form. I especially enjoyed the story when he tagged a subway station in Bay Ridge with his friend Revs. The task was extremely dangerous, causing them to hide from subway workers. Then a train came, and they had to squeeze into the tiny spaces between the subway rails. Despite the dangers, they went back because the “mission had to be completed,” which says a lot about how much Revs values the meaning of his art. The way Rich spoke about his experiences shows how passionate he is about art, whether that be music or visual art.
