I really enjoyed meeting Geoffrey Doig-Marx. I found it awesome how he is both a performing and visual artist. When we were viewing the video showcasing his paintings, I absolutely loved them. His style is really nice and unique. I love seeing new styles of art, and his art reminded me of sophisticated doodles. I also found his advice very helpful and kind. Growing up, all the adults in my life said to never pursue art; art doesn’t allow you to get money, and we all know without money, we can’t survive. However, Geoffrey’s mindset is completely different. He continuously encouraged us to pursue our artistic dreams. Geoffrey said that if you have a dream, just do it. I agree with his mindset, because we only have one life to live, so we have to take risks. Geoffrey also gave us great advice on how to become more known as artists. He told us to give your art to restaurants, bars, or anyone who’s curious about them, so your name and works start growing popular. I found this extremely smart, because the receivers are getting free art and the artist is getting free advertising. There was one last thing that really stood out to me. Geoffrey said that he only likes to sell art that he approves. Others might think the work is beautiful, but if it’s not to him, then he refuses to sell it. I found this very interesting, because I wondered how long it must take him and how tedious the process must be to finish a painting.
