Thoughts on Geoffrey Doig-Marx

Geoffrey was a very interesting visitor this week. I loved how often he repeated that we should follow our passions to make our life fulfilling. He is an artist and a dance choreographer who is currently living in a penthouse. His approach to painting is interesting: he works days at a time from inspiration, and when he doesn’t feel inspired, he can’t express himself. This caught my attention because I was always under the impression that professional artists are so in tune with their creations, that they can set a schedule and draw according to that schedule. I felt that he explained the process of becoming an artist very clearly. It all starts with initial exposure, where a person should give away their works for free. As an artist gets more exposure and keeps improving, the demand for their work also increases.
