This week’s guest was a jazz musician named Jaedon Alvira, who provided a lot of insight into the music industry and gave a wonderful presentation. I was inspired by his life story and how he mentioned that he defied his families desires and felt that he needed to pursue what made him happy in life. I find this inspiring because many students and kids in life feel that they need to do what their parents want instead of what they want to pursue. A lot of children go through this in life and to see that Jaedon took the risk and is happy with his decision is inspiring since it shows that people can do what they want and be successful. I also enjoyed how he emphasized getting out their and looking into different parts of the music industry. He mentioned how he would take part in large and small performances and this made him successful. Additionally, I found it very interesting how he stated that he works with rappers. Previous artists have briefly or not at all mentioned rappers and rap is a genre of music that I personally enjoy so that was attention grabbing. Lastly, I liked how he mentioned that they would perform on their friends’ stoop. I found this interesting because this is a very authentic New York musician thing and it sounded like something out of a movie. Overall, I enjoyed this presentation and hearing what Jaedon said was very insightful.
