The picture above resonates a lot with me and the generation I grew up in. I say this because ever since birth, there has been a lot of conflict and wars present in the world. Not only wars but also social unrest with numerous protests, shootings, and killings. The world has become a place of terror and this has become normal for many but that is the sad truth which some fail to accept. In the image we can see that a solider was placed into the NBA logo to depict that war is a game, with the message”I hate this game”. This shows it is being viewed as something the public watch for entertainment and is corporate colonialism. Wars used to be fought for political reasons and had good intentions but now it has become commercialized. Wars are now fought for economic gain and it is about the money and no longer about doing what is right which says a lot about our current society. Society has changed for the worse and it is evident when the people in society are no longer fazed by the prospect of war or mass shooting in the country. The people have in a sense become immune to it since it occurs so often with little notoriety in the media. In essence, war has become more common in recent years and as a result many do no understand the horrific effects of war, as depicted by the protest art.
The US really has been “at war” your entire life. It is hard not to become numb, impressive image.
