I chose this piece of protest art from the Vietnam War. It is attempting to encourage people in having a say in whether or not wars are started. As can be seen in the image, people are being persuaded to travel to a location to obtain more information on how they could help with the protest effort. At the time, many felt that the battles in Vietnam were unnecessary and had nothing to do with the United States personally. As their fathers, brothers, and family members were sent off and even killed, people began to draw the line and organize protests to oppose the war. I know that today, numerous citizens still disagree with military decisions made by our government. There are constantly disagreements about the true objectives of overseas conflicts, and this piece of art is still applicable so many years later. Additionally, a lot of protest art from this generation looks similar to the one shown above. The content and similarities provided by this work of protest art show how it still resonates today.
