Listening to Jenny speak about her art was exceptional. Hearing her talk about combining all of her skills and knowledge into something she loved, embodied her art and her nature as an individual. I especially appreciated her textile creation from old shirts which was really fascinating to see how something that would’ve been thrown away could be turned into something so beautiful. However, what stood out the most were the different techniques she employed when creating new masterpieces. Ms. West used the Mizner Technique of acting in order to generate different emotions along with blind contouring in order to create truly unique pieces that each held different meanings and symbols. Additionally, it was significant to see that she was capable of creating a flexible job for herself alongside painting so that she can pursue her passion. By listening to Ms. West’s story, one can truly see that anyone can pave their own path to pursue their passion, we just need to try hard enough.
