Chris LoPorto was a really interesting guest speaker. I really enjoy his style of music, and the punk rock genre in general, so I will definitely be adding Can’t Swim to my Spotify playlists. One thing that really stuck out to me was the fact that Chris seems to enjoy songwriting even more than performing, even though concerts are much more high-energy. That is something that I can really relate to. When you are truly focused on a specific task at hand, a creative task, it can envelop you in a way that makes you feel truly alive and energized, even if it is something seemingly mundane, like a geometric proof, or in Chris’s case, writing a song. It shows that someone is truly passionate and invested in the art and process of what they are doing, rather than the results of what they are doing.
