Many of the jobs new immigrants get when they come to the US are things the general population may consider unskilled. To lump all immigrants into this category of “unskilled” workers is inappropriate on many levels. First of all, very often people come to this country with very specific skills sets that they do not get the opportunity to utilize. Additionally however, some immigrants get jobs in fields that we may consider to be unskilled but, in reality, these fields do require specific skills.
