We set out early in the morning to walk around the city before planning on heading out back home late at night.

Our first stop was the Museo del Hombre Dominicano. Through the museum I was able to learn a lot about the culture of the Dominican Republic (especially since it was in English!).

Along the way to our next museum, we stopped by a Chinese restaurant headed by Chinese and Dominican people. The food was decent but it was a bit too salty for my taste.

The next place we went to was the memorial of the three founders of the Dominican Republic (Juan Pablo Duarte, Francisco del Rosario Sanchez, and Matias Ramon Mella). The environment there was very calming.

The next museum we went to was the Museo Memorial de la Resistencia Dominicana. This museum proved to be challenge to me as there was a lot of Spanish text and I wound up being very confused… through help from my friends though, I was able to learn about the three sisters that sacrificed their lives as part of the resistance to end the dictatorship in the Dominican Republic. When we were almost finished with the museum, we came across two friendly cats that got close to us. It was a really great experience.

Afterwards, we walked in search for the underground lake but wound up at Faro a Colón (Columbus Lighthouse). The view felt like a scene from a movie and also looked like something from the Aztec ruins. It was only later that I learned that it was a lighthouse. After so much walking, we decided to take the taxi to the underground lake.

The underground lake (Los Tres Ojos) was really breathtaking! I have seen similar things to this before, but this place was unique in that there were really nice views, some of which were only accessible by a raft. We then took the taxi from the underground lake to the bus stop to head back to Santiago.

A short amount of time after arriving to Santiago, we went to Square One to eat dinner and pull another surprise party for our friend, this time on his birthday.

All in all, it was a really great day!
