I went to IBM’s THINK exhibition in Lincoln Center on October 8th. The exhibit celebrates the company’s hundredth anniversary by showing off the many ways that improved technologies can make the world better. I decided it would be a fun thing to see because my mom and my aunt, who works for IBM came to visit me that day.
When we got to Lincoln Center and found the exhibit, which was actually hard to miss, we picked up our free tickets for the session that started twenty minutes later.
This wait was no problem because the first part of the exhibition is outside, where there is a large screen presenting all kinds of information in an interesting visual way. This was fun to watch as it changed between many different types of information about the city around us.
Once inside the exhibit, there are tall screens set up in circles made up of six screens each. A ten minute video is shown on these screens then they become interactive, each displaying information about a certain subject. By touching the screens, you can bring up different information that relates to the subject associated with it. It was a great experience but could be a little overwhelming with six screens each filled with things to show you.
The exit for leaving the room after the 35 minute session contains a wall with a hundred iconic IBM moments, which was interesting to look at but was, again, a little much and somewhat overwhelming, especially when leaving the exhibition.Of course, no one is forcing you to look at everything. There is nothing wrong with skipping past this wall, but skipping some things because there was so much did make me feel like I was missing out a little bit.
