Daniel, your erasure poem demonstrated a more down to the point of view of the original piece, “Business Round Table- Statement on the purpose of a corporation”. The original work explains the discussion of the principles on the role of a corporation. The statement emphasizes the success of the American economy is based on the long term values of all of the corporation’s stakeholders. It clearly bullets each fundamental commitments that each company needs to follow. It is a declaration of building long term success through the investment into their communities and employees.

Your erasure poems add to the detailed explanation of the declaration through the process of eliminating the definition of various terms and go straight to the point. The beginning of the erasure poem mentions the need for the American economy to strive for the better. By listing the elements to creating a better economy, for example, “Creating jobs, fostering innovations and providing essential goods…” directly shows to the reader what needs to be done. By eliminating phrases like, “We believe a free market is…, businesses play a vital role by…,” you have allowed the reader to avoid repetition and unnecessary words. This erasure poem expresses a simpler version of the original piece but also enhances the urgency of wanting to embrace the community and invest in the employees. This poem does not change the general understanding of the first statement but creates a direct explanation.
