In order to embed an image, document, video or audio file in a post or on a page, the file either needs to be hosted elsewhere (ex. Flickr, Sound Cloud, or YouTube) or needs to upload that file to the site’s Media Library.
Note, large files and numerous files can eat away at the site’s file space. Consider hosting large files such as movies or audio elsewhere, or reducing the file size of the file you upload to the site’s Media Library (you can easily reduce image file size in Preview, or using the free Mac app JPEGmini Lite).
1. Add New Media to Media Library: (can be done one of three ways):
- from top menu bar, select: + New > Media (Use this if you are already in the process of creating/editing a post or page.)
Note: Use this option if you are already in the process of creating/editing a post or page. The following two options will navigate away from the page you are on. But this option will open a window on the same page. In that “Insert Media” window that appears, be sure to select the Upload Media tab. Follow rest of directions as below
- above Post or Page menu bar, click Add Media Button (continue with instructions below
- from menu on left sidebar, select: Media > Add New
2. Upload Media: either drag files into the window, or click the “Select Files” button to pick files from your finder.
3. To Embed Media into Posts or Pages:
