Our goal as Brooklyn College students is to analyze our carbon footprint and see how our energy management structures can be altered to better suit the environment. Our class is viewing Brooklyn College as a lab and focusing on decarbonization from the bottom up. We are interested in the sustainability of CUNYs, with a focus on our campus of Brooklyn College, as well as individual contributions to a greener future. As students, decarbonization and energy management on our campus and school system is important to us. We want to educate on issues of energy management, decarbonization, and sustainability, present ideas to our superiors, and explore what we can do on a smaller level. Group 1’s project focuses on the energy management structure of CUNY schools. Group 2 looks at how Brooklyn College students can contribute to decreasing the carbon footprint on campus and make their campus more sustainable. Group 3 explores training for “energy experts” to make buildings, and campuses, more sustainable and with less of a carbon footprint. Group 4 covered the comparison of Brooklyn College to greener campuses to suggest steps Brooklyn College and other CUNYs can take to be more sustainable. We hope you enjoy our class website and projects!
