There’s nothing I love more than a field trip, so I was very, very excited to Museum of the City of NY. I have to admit, I’m a pretty sorry excuse for a New Yorker, knowing next to nothing about the history of New York City. This short film gave a very enjoyable and succinct timeline of events from the founding of New York until today. I learned many new things (like how old the names of places like Harlem and the Bronx are) and I really did feel like I was a part of something bigger.

But the question I left with was: where is there to go from here? Each chapter of the film was about how the City has kept on expanding and evolving, but how much more can it expand at this point? I think that a better ending to the film would’ve been a chapter about New York in the future and predictions about what it will become. Also the three different movie screens made all the action a bit hard to follow. Other than that, I’d say my dollar was well spent.
