When we analyzed Temple, we incorporated the modern day twist that the artist put on such a historic, ornate temple. The temple looks as if it should be a glorified house, but the inside is something a little deeper, and more risqué depiction the outside makes it appear. My group and I were able to discuss it’s ornate, classical, and elegant architecture enforced by it’s subtle colors on the outside, then contrasted by a beautiful dark gate. Then we entered the work of art and took particular notice on the prayer wheels, that were able to be rotated. These wheels displayed many vulgar, provocative and promiscuous ads, making us come to conclusion that the artist was trying to portray a brothel. We did a lot of physical descriptions analysis, but we wished that maybe we could have done more analytical, deeper meaning descriptions. If we had more time, we could have incorporated the time period and relevance of history to the piece.
