A sudden furor in the local newspapers! China claims that the global instability that followed the Fall demonstrated the fragile nature of the global financial and political community. Well, true. Moreover, it argues that it is quite perilous to hinge global stability on that of the United Sates’. Can’t argue with that. The Chinese, and other emergent Asian markets, suffered following the partial collapse of the banking and communications networks after the fall, but they were also the quickest to recover and are now poised to ascend to the role of premier world power. That sounds a bit worrisome. Therefore, the Chinese challenge the political hegemony of the United States; with many of its major cities just now beginning the slow crawl towards regaining their former glory, the United States should focus on its domestic affairs, as opposed to meddling unnecessarily in world affairs. Oh my god, the Reds are coming!

I think the rumors of America’s death are greatly exaggerated. While its true that we might never regain much of our former glory, neither can our erstwhile. All that remains to be seen is whether the Aldovar Adminstration reverses the last few decades of protectionist reactionary politics, and fully joins the arena of global politics.
Christ, yet another asinine post. Are you capable of anything other than try-hard sarcasm and weak willed attempts at political commentary?
Travis, you always brighten my morning like nothing else 🙂
But seriously, are you capable of anything but ad hominem attacks?
kind of agree. well not with the tone, don’t mean to antagonize! but i wouldn’t dismiss the fears about the emergence of china as a world power. certainly, they are coming from the reactionary far right (we are uncomfortable bedfellows to say the least), but i was reading on w.n.c. that there are some interesting details emerging about the beginning of the fall. it came at an awfully convenient time for our enemies, i guess you could say, a near-catastrophic event that devestated the cultural and financial sectors of teh US

gnc? that’s a little like admiting that you are a willing slave to the state
I have no idea what imaginary world these political commentators live in, but China was always a world power. American exceptionalism cannot rewrite history.
Also this “emerging” information has been kicking around on the internet for some time now, so it’s not new, just new to our mass media. And calling it information is exaggerating it quite a bit; unverified conspiracy theories is much more accurate.
Do I dare to ask what this new information is?
I am pretty sure you must have heard it all already. The Fall was a plot against the United States orchestrated by an unholy alliance of Iran and China and Islamic extremists and the Axis of Evil and and and and. I was hoping we had moved past the point where everything was blamed on those damn commies
