All the old buildings that were destroyed during the war were replaced to welcome a new era.

After the Revolutionary War ended and the British were forced out of the colonies, Flatbush had to rebuild. All the old buildings that were destroyed during the war were replaced to welcome a new era. Erasmus Hall Academy was the first building to be erected in 1786, and after that, the new structure of the Dutch Reform Church followed, both located where the Avenues of Flatbush and Church meet.

Thirty- one- years later, when the settlers of Flatbush heard that the British were once again approaching during the War of 1812, they intended to be ready. They built an arsenal in an old school house lot, and began to build fortifications and dig trenches with 1,150 volunteers from across the river and others from Connecticut and New Jersey. However, as time passed the British never invaded. The War of 1812 traveled down to the south instead.[xxxiv]
