I recently visited Baltimore and stumbled upon the 9/11 Memorial outside of the Baltimore WTC building. At first I thought it was an abstract sculpture, but then realized it was actually a steel beam that was taken from one of the twin towers. This memorial honors all of the victims from Maryland. The names and birthdates of the deceased are carved into the base below the beam. To the side there are three large limestones that were taken from the Pentagon building. The twisted steel and damaged limestone are reminders of the tragedy from that day.
