1972: the Cooperative Market is built as 40 acre facility with 6 buildings
-1974: Meat Distribution Center is opened
-80s and 90s: the Food Distribution Center expands to encompass 329 acres
-2001: Shortly before leaving office, NYC Mayor Rudolph Guiliani breaks ground to move the 180 year old Fulton Fish Market from downtown Manhattan to the Distribution Center
-2005: Hunts Point officially becomes the site for New York City’s New Fulton Fish Market, costing $85 million to build, 55 new businesses move in
-2011: the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) entered negotiations with Hunts Point Terminal Produce Corporation to extend the Market’s lease–one that has yet to come to a resolution…
-2012: The Produce Market receives a $10 million grant to improve railways in the Distribution Center (cannot be used until a lease agreement is reached)
