The choice of scenery in Otello was very interesting in relevance to the time period in which Othello is placed. In the play, large pieces of clear buildings are used to bring background to the different scenes. Although it is practical not to design a specific building so every piece can be used and reused, it is odd that the set designers chose clear to be the color of the structures. It looked as though the buildings were made of glass, which is anachronistic in reference to the time period of the play.
