Norwood News

Norwood News was established in 1988 by the Mosholu Preservation Corporation to cater to local Norwood residents and  maintain its role as the catalyst for community action. Riverdale and other areas of the Bronx had well established newspapers while Norwood was still paperless.

Operating as a free community paper, Norwood News includes communal projects and undertakings and writes on issues concerning the quality of life in Norwood. It continues to be the only source of relevant news for residents of Board 7 in the northwest Bronx. The most famous attribute of the newspaper is the Armory Clock. It is a numerical countdown to the day that officials release proposal requests for the city. This countdown had been instrumental in maintaing legislative focus on Norwood’s most prevalent issues. The headquarters of Norwood News is in the converted Oval Reservoir Keeper’s House. They adopted the space two years after Mosholu Preservation Corporation purchased the property in 1998.

Norwood News now operates online and serves areas greater than Norwood including areas by Fordham Road and Bedford Park.
